Cookie policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This policy explains how smouche.co.uk uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It follows the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your phone, tablet or computer when you visit. They help the website remember things, such as what’s in your basket. Websites also use similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage or small pieces of code called ‘pixels’. In this policy, we call all of these ‘cookies’.
Your choice
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. If you block the cookies that aren’t strictly necessary, the website still works: you can browse and order as normal.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are needed for our website to work, You can block them in your browser settings, but parts of the website, such as the basket and checkout, will then stop working.
- woocommerce_cart_hash and woocommerce_items_in_cart: remember what’s in your basket. Deleted when you close your browser.
- wp_woocommerce_session_ (followed by a code): links you to your basket, so it isn’t lost as you move around the website. Lasts 2 days.
- PayPal cookies: when you pay by PayPal, card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, PayPal sets its own cookies to process your payment securely and prevent fraud. You’ll find details in PayPal’s cookie statement on paypal.com.
- Technical cookies: our basket, checkout and hosting tools may set short-lived technical cookies so that each page shows your own basket correctly.
Measurement and advertising cookies
We advertise on Facebook and Instagram, which belong to Meta. The Meta Pixel helps us see which adverts bring visitors to our website and lead to orders, and helps us show our adverts to people who are likely to be interested.
- _fbp (set on our website for Meta): recognises your browser when you come back, so that visits and orders can be linked to our adverts. Lasts 90 days.
- _fbc (set on our website for Meta): remembers that you arrived by clicking one of our adverts on Facebook or Instagram. Lasts 90 days.
- Meta’s own cookies (such as fr): if you’re logged in to Facebook or Instagram, Meta may also read its own cookies to match your visit to your account. You’ll find details in Meta’s cookie policy on facebook.com.
We also send Meta information about your order directly from our website (this is called the Conversions API). This includes your email address and phone number in a scrambled (‘hashed’) form.
Cookies that remember how you found us
These cookies remember how you found us (for example, which advert, email or website you came from), so that we can tell which of our adverts lead to orders. This information is saved with your order.
- Cookies whose names start with wffn_ (set by FunnelKit, our checkout tool): remember the advert or link that brought you to us, such as the campaign name and the Facebook click reference.
- Cookies whose names start with sbjs_ (set by WooCommerce, our shop software, for its order attribution feature): remember where your visit came from. Most are deleted when you close your browser, and sbjs_session lasts 30 minutes.
How to change your mind
- In your browser: you can delete or block cookies in your browser’s settings. Your browser’s help pages explain how.
- With Meta: you can manage the adverts you see in your Facebook or Instagram settings, under ‘Ad preferences’.
If you block these cookies, we stop using them on your device from that moment.
